Promotion and development of youth tourism and the expansion of the tourist culture of young people in Croatia
Croatian Youth Hostel Association (CYHA) is a non-profit and non-governmental association and independent association of youth hostels that deals with the development of the youth tourism and all the aspects and activities of the organized and individual holiday and recreation of young people.
CYHA has a long tradition. It was founded in Zagreb in 1953.
The fulfilment of our goals is based on the general need of young people to spend their leisure time and holidays as a way of personal development.
Our activities promote education through the process of making new insights by travelling. We encourage the respect and the care for social, cultural and natural values of Croatia and of all the countries in the world.
Croatian youth hostels are the places to meet, to socialize and to cooperate with young people freely without any forms of political, national, racial, religious or sexual discrimination.
We try to encourage young people to travel and to make contacts with other travellers and with other cultures in order to increase their understanding and respect toward 'differences'.
We organize cultural and entertainment programmes, distribute international youth and student tourist and hostel guides, animate tourist guides and chaperons on travels and issue international youth and student's cards.
